The English – Literary Studies Major


Consider this the classic English major. In the Literary Studies option, you will focus on the literatures and cultures of Britain, the United States, and the world. Upon graduation, you will be well prepared for a career in publishing, public relations and advertising, old and new media, and writing, or for graduate study in law, English, American studies, linguistics, cultural studies, and more.

In this major option, you'll gain a strong background in writing and linguistics while engaging with literature across time periods, locations, and literary movements. You'll have room in your degree to complete a minor in anything, from Spanish to teaching English to speakers of other Languages (TESOL) to writing studies to business to history to African American studies!
