Dr. HumberDr. Toni- Mokjaetji Humber  The Ethnic & Women’s Studies Department was saddened to share the news of the passing of their dear professor, colleague, mentor, and friend Dr. Toni- Mokjaetji Humber on May 11, 2023. As a faculty in the Ethnic and Women’s Studies Department for 15 years, Dr. Humber taught students about African American Studies, Africa and Black culture. In addition to teaching, Dr. Humber was an avid researcher and traveler. She traveled extensively to further her research on African and African American culture and history, ethnic studies, the educational implications of Ebonics, sociolinguistics, and inter-cultural communication.
Dr. Toni-Mokaetji Humber received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University Los Angeles, a Master’s in Education from Loyola Marymount University, and her Doctorate in Sociolinguistics from Howard University.
