GEMS Minors

Program Descriptions

Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies Minor 

Students enrolled in other academic programs, especially those outside of the College of Education and Integrative Studies, may broaden their intellectual base and historical knowledge by completing an academic minor in Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies. This minor is designed to supplement student studies in other major fields. Many Gender, Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies (GEMS) Minors find opportunities for application of the knowledge and academic preparation they have obtained in their minor to understanding the social, political and historical experience of Asian/Pacific Islanders in the United States and globally.  It is possible for students majoring in most other fields to complete the minor in Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies within the normal requirements of their degree through careful planning and scheduling of their required courses.

Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies Minor

Students enrolled in other academic programs, especially those outside of the College of Education and Integrative Studies, may broaden their intellectual base and historical knowledge by completing an academic minor in Chicana/o Latina/o Studies. This minor is designed to supplement student studies in other major fields. Many Gender, Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies (GEMS) Minors find opportunities for application of the knowledge and academic preparation they have obtained in their minor to understanding the social, political and historical experience of Chicanas/os / Latinas/os in the United States and globally.  It is possible for students majoring in most other fields to complete the minor in Chicana/o /Latina/o Studies within the normal requirements of their degree through careful planning and scheduling of their required courses.

Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor

Students enrolled in other academic programs, especially those outside of the College of Education and Integrative Studies, may broaden their intellectual base and historical knowledge by completing an academic minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. This minor is designed to supplement student studies in other major fields. Many Gender, Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies (GEMS) Minors find opportunities for application of the knowledge and academic preparation they have obtained in their minor to understanding the social, political and historical experience of Gender and Sexuality in the United States and globally.  It is possible for students majoring in most other fields to complete the minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies within the normal requirements of their degree through careful planning and scheduling of their required courses.

Native American Studies Minor

Students enrolled in other academic programs, especially those outside of the College of Education and Integrative Studies, may broaden their intellectual base and historical knowledge by completing an academic minor in Native American Studies. This minor is designed to supplement student studies in other major fields. Multicultural Leadership Studies Interdisciplinary Minor

Students enrolled in other academic programs, especially those outside of the College of Education and Integrative Studies, may broaden their intellectual base and historical knowledge by completing an academic minor in Multicultural Leadership Studies. This minor is designed to supplement student studies in other major fields. Many Gender, Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies (GEMS) Minors find opportunities for application of the knowledge and academic preparation they have obtained in their minor to understanding the social, political and historical experience of Multicultural Leadership in the United States and globally.  It is possible for students majoring in most other fields to complete the minor in Multicultural Leadership Studies within the normal requirements of their degree through careful planning and scheduling of their required courses.

African American Studies Minor

Students enrolled in other academic programs, especially those outside of the College of Education and Integrative Studies, may broaden their intellectual base and historical knowledge by completing an academic minor in African American Studies. This minor is designed to supplement student studies in other major fields.
