Music of Mexico

Music of Mexico (MU 3110) is a survey course about various regional styles and historical periods of Mexican and Central American music. The course mixes lectures with student group activities and seminar-style discussions.

It is recommended that when students enroll in this class, they also enroll in one of the mariachi ensembles: Mariachi Los Caballeros (MU 3580A-02) or Mariachi Los Broncos de Pomona (MU 3580A-01; by audition only). Musical concepts and repertoire covered in the lecture class will be applied in these performance classes.
