Commencement 2022

Honor Cord/Diploma Information

Honor Cord

A gold cord worn around the neck of the gown signifies baccalaureate graduation with academic honors. Cal Poly Pomona grants honors upon graduation to students who have demonstrated academic excellence throughout their undergraduate careers.

Graduates receiving master's/postbaccalaureate degrees are not eligible for honors.

Honors apply to undergraduate students who graduate in Fall or Spring terms only, with an overall grade point average of at least 3.50. Spring Semester candidates must have had a minimum overall GPA of 3.50 based on Fall grades. Everyone who earns honors at graduation will have that designation noted on their diploma.  The honors are:

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.80 - 4.00
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.65 - 3.79
  • Cum Laude: 3.50 - 3.64

Distribution of Honor Cords continues at the registrar counter located in the first floor of Student Service Building 121 - East.  Distribution will be available Monday through Friday, April 3 through May 13, 2022, between hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Must provide a Bronco I.D., or Bronco I.D. number with a California I.D.
