Mechanical Engineering Industry Advisory Council
Mission Statement
The Industry Advisory Council (IAC) of the Cal Poly Pomona Mechanical Engineering Department provides strategic guidance and resources to help the department achieve its goals of producing adaptive world-class engineers and fulfilling the modern and ever-advancing technological needs of industry.
Main Responsibilities
The Industrial Advisory Council will create a collaborative partnership between industry and the CPP Mechanical Engineering Department to advance education, research, and innovation in the fields of Mechanical Engineering through the following and related actions:
- Periodically provide feedback about the Mechanical Engineering program’s curriculum, Mission Statement, Student Outcomes, and Program Educational Objectives.
- Periodically provide feedback on whether students are meeting the program’s student outcomes by evaluating senior project reports and completing surveys on the quality of new graduates.
- Support senior projects by providing an avenue for industry to propose projects, provide technical guidance, and/or provide financial support.
- Connect industry to CPP Mechanical Engineering clubs and/or upper division courses (e.g., guest speakers, project sharing, etc.).
- Create internship and/or mentorship opportunities and potential career pathways for CPP Mechanical Engineering students.
