I was born, raised, and educated inOrange County, California. I figure that everyone around the world wants to come here, so why should I leave?
I received my B.S. in Physics from theUniversity of California, Irvine (UCI)in 2003. Not knowing what to do next, I decided to further my education at UCI by attending graduate school in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. My research focused on computer modeling of systems that are related to the atmosphere. I was fortunate to work under my very supportive advisor, Dr. Donald Dabdub, and be part of an amazing team of researchers atAirUCI.
During graduate school, I was a teaching assistant many times and found my true calling. Research had its ups and downs, but teaching was always fun for me. After I received my Ph.D. in 2009, I decided to follow my heart and pursue a faculty position at a primarily undergraduate university. After being a post-doctoral researcher at UCI for a couple years, I was hired as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Cal Poly Pomona in Fall 2011.
During my time at Cal Poly Pomona, my research has focused primarily on how to utilize technology in engineering education. I have loved experimenting with the numerous tools (and related pedagogies) that have emerged over the past couple decades.
