The Lynn and Claude Coppel Endowed Scholarship

Lynn and Claude Coppel Endowment Logo

The Lynn and Claude Coppel Scholarship Endowment was established to provide scholarship support for students who are employed or volunteering in the University Library at Cal Poly Pomona. Mr. Coppel generously endowed the scholarship in memory of his wife, Lynn, to support Cal Poly Pomona University Library student assistants and active Library Club members.

The Coppels have several connections to Cal Poly Pomona. After earning degrees in geology and environmental science and library science, Lynn Coppel worked as a science librarian for 25 years at California State University Fullerton retiring in 1992. Her work with student assistants inspired the gift that established this scholarship endowment. Mr. Coppel earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, worked at Chevron Oil Field Research for 27 years, and retired in 1992. Their daughter, Susannah, is an alumna of Cal Poly Pomona. And their grandson is currently an Engineering student at Cal Poly Pomona.

The University Library faculty and staff are enormously grateful that the Coppels selected Cal Poly Pomona to establish this scholarship endowment for student assistants and volunteers in the University Library. The generous gift supports deserving and talented students who support library services and operations as a critical part of our workforce.
