What is it?
Carousel is the software we use at Cal Poly Pomona for posting information onto your departments digital signage displays. It's seamless platform for connecting with students both visually and interactively in a way that typical poster boards can't. By tailoring your digital signage content to the unique interests and needs of your student audience, you not only enhance the impact of your messages, but also create a more meaningful and rewarding experience for everyone.

How do I use it?
You can manage the content per signage location via the Carousel web application from anywhere! Create bulletins, channels, and even schedule upcoming events with just a few simple clicks. Our campus media departments have put in a lot of hard work making templates for you to use to make it easier to get started from start!

Yes! Every digital signage installation is directly supported by our support staff, from one-on-one training on how to effectively use the platform, to on-call support and even yearly maintenance checks, we've got you covered!

Frequently Asked Questions
The owner of the physical signage defines who will create, schedule and/or approve the content displayed on the screen. Shared content such as Campus Alerts, Strategic Communications Announcements and Master Calendar events will be determined by a committee. Content can be shared openly between departments to pick up and display on their screens. Maintenance is handled by our support staff on an as-needed and yearly basis.
Yes, the digital signage purchase would be the financial responsibility of the college and/or department. If a building is shared by two or more departments or colleges, they may share the costs of purchasing the digital signage and software as well as any on-going costs.
There is an annual license fee of $450 for the media player software that distributes content to your screen along with on-call support and annual maintenance. Your budget should include software upgrades so you can stay current with new features and/or hardware as computers and electronic signs do age. Additionally, you may want to consider adding more players or bandwidth in the future.
The college or department can define the location of the digital sign. However, MV Design will do a local survey for power, network connectivity, and security policies on potential locations to determine the best placement. Any potential issues or hazards will be communicated to the the requesting party.
