About Sophomore Success

Heard of, worried about, or already feeling the sophomore slump? Join the Sophomore Success program and rise above!

The Sophomore Success program provides sophomore men of color the tools, resources, and community to continue growing in their academic, personal, and career excellence and achievement. Through individualized peer mentoring; hosting academic, personal, and career skills building workshops; and developing relationships with faculty, participants of Sophomore Success will continue to grow and thrive throughout their sophomore year.

All Sophomore Success Scholars will be paired with a Peer Mentor who is trained and equipped to help and guide Scholars through the ups and downs of sophomore year.

Sophomore Success Scholars will also participate in skills building workshops with experts who will help them in the areas of:
  • Career Development
  • Personal and School Finances
  • Leadership development
  • Classroom skills (e.g. presentation skills)

Sophomore Success Scholars will also have exclusive opportunities to build up close and personal connections with faculty, learn more about their field of study and potential career paths, what to do in office hours, and future letters of recommendations

As a participant in the Sophomore Success program, Scholars will receive:

  • Priority Registration. Sophomore Success Scholars who participate and engage will get Priority Registration for Spring and following Fall Semester
  • Access to EOP Academic Tutoring
  • Community. Build community with other Sophomore Success Scholars and MSI program participants
  • Support and guidance from Peer Mentors on how to navigate sophomore year (internships, financial aid, student orgs to join, recommended professors)
  • Swag

Requirements

  • Open to all male-identified students, men of color
  • You must maintain a GPA of at least 2.0
