Orientation Services employs knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful Cal Poly Pomona students who serve as Orientation Leaders. As an Orientation Leader, you play an important role in Cal Poly Pomona's orientation programming and services that welcoming incoming students and their families and supporters into the Bronco Family.

About the Orientation Leader Position

As an Orientation Leader, you make a significant impression on our incoming students and their supporters on what to expect as they begin their journey at CPP. Your responsibilities include virtually facilitating small group discussions and icebreakers, providing campus information, and directing students to appropriate resources. In order to prepare students for their college experience, you share information about campus life, academic expectations, and other general information about the university.

 

General Roles & Responsibilities

  • Acquaint new students and their families with the campus culture, policies, and resources at Cal Poly Pomona through successful virtual engagements
  • Facilitate transition of new students to college life and encourage involvement in the campus community

Qualifications

  • Current Cal Poly Pomona undergraduate student enrolled in 6.1 units or more during Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 (please note students graduating in May 2021 are not eligible to apply)
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 2.20
  • Have access to the appropriate equipment (laptop, web cam, microphone, headset, internet connectivity), as well as an appropriate workspace, to support remote work. Please contact us if you are interested in the position but need assistance developing your workspace.

 

Mandatory Time Commitment

  • Spring Semester Training: Fridays 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., starting March 12
  • Summer Orientation: Late May to August 2021: 20-30 hours/week
  • CPP Fest: Provide staff support in August 2021
  • Fall Semester transition programming: Fall 2021
