Welcome to Spring Semester 2022
January 24, 2022
Hello fellow Broncos!
A new semester is upon us, and with it, the renewed excitement and anticipation stirred by our academic, research, scholarly and creative efforts.
As I have had the opportunity to do so many times over the past two years, I again thank the campus community for your patience and resilience in the face of a global pandemic. Keeping ourselves and our communities safe requires personal responsibility from each of us, and I recognize and appreciate all that you do.
Of course, we hoped to be back to teaching and learning primarily in-person for the start of the semester. As I noted in my message to campus earlier this month, so much of the Cal Poly Pomona experience depends on the opportunity to engage directly with one another. Fortunately, this is a temporary delay, and I am greatly looking forward to having everyone back on campus while also being safe.
As always, we have so much to be proud of as a university. Our Rose Float Program again won high honors at the Tournament of Roses Parade; our students took home top prize at a global cybersecurity competition, beating out Stanford to earn first place; and the Campaign for College Opportunity named us as a 2021 Equity Champion for our inclusive student success efforts. Indeed, across all our colleges and divisions, our students, faculty and staff continue to reach new heights.
And we have even more to look forward to, including the return of Commencement to our campus in May as we honor the Class of 2022.
Thank you all for making Cal Poly Pomona a truly unique academic institution. I wish you a healthy, safe and successful semester.
