Continuation of the Search for the Director of Conflict Resolution and University Ombuds

Dear Campus Community,

Earlier this month, we held campus interviews with two candidates for the position of Director of Conflict Resolution and University Ombuds at Cal Poly Pomona.

Taking into consideration feedback on the candidates from campus stakeholders and the recommendations of the search committee, I have decided to extend the search effort and continue to seek candidates who bring the skills, experience and qualifications necessary to fulfil this critical role at Cal Poly Pomona.

I want to thank the members of the search committee for their dedication and service and give special thanks to Interim Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs, Jill Hargis, who serves as chair. Through their work together this spring, including serving as hosts for a campus visit by experienced University Ombuds Dawn Osborne Adams in February, the search committee has developed a keen understanding of the role and our aspirations for the incumbent. I am grateful that the committee has agreed to continue stewarding the recruitment effort through the summer with the goal of presenting additional candidates for campus stakeholder engagement early in the Fall.

As the search continues, preparations for establishing the Office of Conflict Resolution Services will proceed with planned renovations to space in Building 1 this summer. We are committed to identifying the best possible leader to serve in this critical role for our university and look forward to sharing more updates about the search process later this year.

Sincerely,

Soraya M. Coley, Ph.D.
President
