Welcome to the 2026-2027 Academic Year

August 20, 2026

Dear Friends and Community Partners,

As we welcome our students, faculty, and staff to a new academic year, I wanted to share some of the excitement and optimism we are feeling at Cal Poly Pomona.

Our campus is coming alive again. Enrollment is strong, our students are returning with tremendous energy and ambition, and we are moving forward with purpose as we prepare Cal Poly Pomona for the future.

As I begin my first fall as President, I am also reminded that the strength and impact of Cal Poly Pomona extend far beyond our campus. Our impact is possible because of partners like you.

Your support creates a ripple effect. When you invest in CPP, advocate for our students, or open doors to partnerships, you help students succeed, strengthen families, expand economic opportunity, build our regional workforce, and ultimately contribute to a stronger California.

Our students bring extraordinary talent and determination to their education. Through internships, research, community partnerships, and PolyX experiences, they put knowledge into action through innovation, collaboration, and real-world problem solving.

We are also developing the Cal Poly Pomona Promise, an aspiration to expand access to meaningful paid internships and career connected experiences so that more students graduate with both an exceptional education and the professional experience and connections to take their next step.

I often say that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. Cal Poly Pomona has a responsibility to help close that gap. As one of the most diverse polytechnic universities in the country, we are a powerful engine of opportunity and economic mobility for our region and California.

Great things are happening at Cal Poly Pomona, and I believe some of our most important work is still ahead of us.

I am including my welcome messages to our students and employees so you can see what I am sharing with our campus community as we begin the year.

Most importantly, thank you. Your partnership has made a meaningful difference for our students, their families, and the communities we serve. I look forward to meeting with you, hearing your perspectives, and continuing to build our future together.

I am enormously proud of Cal Poly Pomona, deeply optimistic about what lies ahead, and grateful to have you as a partner in our work.

With gratitude and Bronco pride,

Vanya Quiñones, Ph. D.
President
