A Warm Welcome to Spring Semester 2026
January 20, 2026

Happy New Year, Broncos!
Welcome to the start of the spring semester. I hope you had an opportunity over the break to rest, reflect and reconnect with those most important to you. As we begin 2026 together, I am filled with gratitude for our remarkable Cal Poly Pomona community and inspired by the accomplishments of our students, staff and faculty.
I am especially pleased to welcome our newest students, including a large cohort of transfer students who are joining us this spring. Your decision to continue your academic journey at CPP strengthens our campus in meaningful ways, and we are proud to support you as you pursue your goals. To our returning students, faculty and staff, thank you for the energy and commitment you bring to this campus every day.
As we begin the semester, I want to celebrate an extraordinary achievement that has brought national recognition to our university. This year, our Rose Float team received the Rose Float Sweepstakes Award for their incredible creation, “Jungle Jumpstart.” This is the highest honor bestowed in the Rose Parade and represents the very best in design, craftsmanship and overall presentation. Receiving this award places our students, faculty and alumni among an elite group and underscores what is possible when creativity, technical excellence and teamwork come together at the highest level. It was incredible to be a part of their experience this year, making a truly auspicious start to 2026. Congratulations to all involved in this truly special accomplishment.
Looking ahead, 2026 will continue to be a year of possibility and promise, as the presidential search process advances with the expectation that a new, permanent President will be appointed this spring. I want to thank the many members of our community who are engaged in this effort. Your participation, perspectives and care for the future of the university are essential as we move forward together.
Finally, spring always brings one of the most meaningful milestones of the academic year: commencement. I am already looking forward to celebrating our graduates and their families, and to honoring the perseverance, growth and achievements represented by our ceremonies.
Thank you to each of you for all you do to make this campus such a special place. I wish you a successful, healthy and inspiring spring semester.
