Long before choosing her major, Anne Kelley Johnson discovered an interest in criminology through an unlikely source: The X-Files. The show’s mysteries sparked her curiosity about psychology, human behavior and what drives people to commit crimes. Over time, those questions developed into a passion for understanding how biology, psychology and environment shape actions. At Cal Poly Pomona, Anne is a member of the Criminology Club and works for Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises in Facilities Management. Outside of school and work, she enjoys the gym, drawing, makeup and baking. As a Ryman Arts alumna, she values the way art has strengthened her patience, attention to detail and ability to observe the world from multiple perspectives. Anne sees her mother as her greatest role model and is inspired by her tenacity, courage and perseverance. Anne sees her analytical and creative sides as equally important to who she is. She hopes to work for the federal government in a research and analysis role, contributing to a justice system rooted in evidence, compassion and public safety.
