Growing up around livestock, Gracey MacDonald developed an appreciation for the dedication, responsibility and compassion required to care for animals. Early experiences raising cattle and assisting with ranch work grew into a passion for veterinary medicine, reinforced through hands-on experiences at the county fair and in a professional veterinary setting. At Cal Poly Pomona, Gracey combines academic learning with practical experience, working as a veterinary assistant and participating in the university’s Pre-Veterinary Club and Equestrian Show Team. She also volunteers at her local animal shelter and supports youth exhibitors at the San Bernardino County Fair. Gracey’s great-grandfather is one of her greatest role models. His love for agriculture, unwavering faith and strong work ethic continue to guide her. She is also fascinated by holistic and plant-based approaches, believing that traditional and complementary medicine can improve animal health and well-being. Gracey plans to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and work with large-scale producers and family farms. She hopes to advance sustainable agriculture while educating future generations about responsible animal care and welfare.
