Jessica He’s academic path began in economics, but her growing interest in technical and quantitative work led her toward data science, mathematics, artificial intelligence and computer information systems. The international transfer student brings a global perspective to her studies and is interested in the intersection of data, finance and technology. At Cal Poly Pomona, Jessica has built a strong foundation through classroom learning and hands-on experience. She is a member of the MISSA Data Analytics Team, conducts undergraduate research with Professor Sonya Zhang and gained industry experience as a technical intern with YouWorld Inc. She volunteered with the 2026 ETHConf in New York, the largest Ethereum gathering in the United States, deepening her exposure to emerging technology and innovation. Jessica looks to Chinese American freestyle skier and model Eileen Gu as a role model for her discipline, positivity and commitment to growth. Gu’s words, “Pain is temporary, pressure is a privilege,” remind Jessica to view challenges as opportunities. In the next five years, she hopes to pursue a Ph.D. focused on data and finance.
