Seeing the impact of limited mental health resources on low-income and underserved communities sparked Madison Miles’ commitment to a career in psychology. Her decision to study marriage and family therapy was shaped by the kindness and compassion she received from mentors, teachers, counselors and community members. She hopes to offer that same support to future clients while helping them build resilience and self-compassion. As a graduate student, Madison is completing her practicum with Project Sister Family Services and will intern with the Pomona Unified School District. Her work with Project Sister has strengthened her passion for supporting survivors of sexual assault and interpersonal violence and deepened her commitment to trauma-informed, client-centered care. Madison’s greatest role model is her grandfather. His kindness, compassion, integrity and respect for others continue to shape the way she hopes to serve clients and communities. She hopes to open a private therapy practice, specialize in trauma care, expand her training in evidence-based approaches, and write about abuse and trauma to reduce stigma and increase awareness.
