Design and Technical Production

The Polytechnic Approach

Transform a script into a fully realized stage experience. By working on live productions, you’ll gain hands-on experience that bridges the gap between artistic vision and practical execution. Through collaboration with directors, performers and faculty, you’ll develop a deep understanding of the technical side of theatre and be prepared to handle every detail of a production, both on and off the stage.

Courses

The Design and Technical Production option is for those who are passionate about the behind-the-scenes aspects of theatre. This track focuses on the artistic and technical skills required to bring a production to life, including scenic design, lighting, costume design, makeup and sound. You will also gain hands-on experience in production management, technical direction and scenic or costume construction. Through participation in mainstage productions and workshops, you will learn to collaborate with directors, actors and other designers to create cohesive and compelling theatrical environments. This program prepares you for careers in theatrical design and production, film or tv production, themed entertainment or further specialized training.
