The meeting schedule will be based on the committee members’ availability.
This committee will select the outstanding faculty for three different awards: The Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Service, and the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Scholarly and Creative Activities.
According to the Academic Senate Constitution, Article II, Section 3 (G), unit 3 representation on University Committees should only be assigned by the Senate. Eligible unit 3 members are probationary and tenured faculty, full-time lecturers, librarians, counselor faculty, coaches, and FERP faculty with a 0.5 base for two semesters.
Interested individuals should submit their name and a brief statement (minimum of 200 words and a maximum of 500 words) detailing:
1) Your interest in serving on this committee
2) Your qualifications and experiences that can best serve the work of the committee

The Academic Senate is recruiting faculty representatives for the Special Projects for Improving the Classroom Experience (SPICE) Committee from the following constituency:
- Collins College of Hospitality Management (term ends 2028)
- College of Environmental Design (term ends 2026)
The objective of the SPICE Committee is to allocate funds for equipment modernization and instructional innovation that provide added value to the educational experiences of students.
The focus of the equipment modernization funding shall be to replace and modernize classroom (including studio space and laboratory) equipment that directly benefits students.
The focus of instructional innovation funding shall be on instructional approaches, designed for the physical or virtual classroom, that lead to greater student learning.

The focus of instructional innovation funding shall be on instructional approaches, designed for the physical or virtual classroom, that lead to greater student learning.
The SPICE program is funded through the Student Success Fee, with the purpose of supporting faculty in efforts to improve the learning environment for Cal Poly Pomona students.
Classroom Modernization
Classroom Modernization proposals support significant upgrades or renovations of classroom or lab space, beyond regular maintenance.
Instructional Innovation
Instructional Innovation proposals support individual faculty or groups of faculty in a variety of ways to create and implement innovative teaching methods, or to implement teaching methods which are well-proven but require a significant amount of support.
The membership of the committee is:
- Associate Vice President for Academic Innovation or appropriate designee;
- Executive Director for Academic Resources or appropriate designee;
- Director of the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE) or appropriate designee;
- One faculty member from each college and the University Library;
- Six students;
- A member from the Division of Information Technology; and
- A member from Facilities Management this year.
Faculty on the SPICE Committee shall be appointed by the Academic Senate and shall serve a three-year term; students on the committee shall be appointed by the Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) and shall serve a two-year term. A faculty member or a student who is unable to serve out their appointed term, will be replaced by the Academic Senate or ASI.
Full-time tenured faculty, tenure track faculty, full-time lecturers with an annual contract, and FERP faculty with a 0.5 base for two semesters are eligible to serve.

The Academic Senate Elections and Procedures Committee is seeking nominations for a representative from the College of Business Administration to serve on the University Curriculum Committee (UCC) starting in fall 2025 and ending in spring 2028.
AS-1107-990/AA, University Curriculum Committee, outlines the duties of the Committee:
- The membership of the University Curriculum Committee contains elected representatives of the Colleges, Schools, and Related Areas. The Chair of the Academic Programs Committee serves as an ex-officio member. Per AS-1107-990/AA, members of UCC shall be full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty.
- The University Curriculum Committee forwards recommendations and reviews to the Academic Senate for forwarding to the appropriate standing committee.
- The University Curriculum Committee will review all undergraduate and graduate new course proposals, identify potential overlap and/or duplication of existing courses, and make recommendations. The new course proposals so identified, and the University Curriculum Committee’s recommendations shall be forwarded to the Academic Programs Committee. The Academic Programs Committee shall then make recommendations for resolution and forward its recommendations to the Senate.
- The Associate Vice President for Academic Programs shall establish a website where new course proposals will be posted for review by campus constituencies. Comments will be solicited and forwarded to the University Curriculum Committee, and the College/School Curriculum Committee, and the Department Curriculum Committee(s) where the new course proposal originated.

The UWC has been formed to address EO 665, GWAR Policy Update. Policy 1436(PDF) has been updated accordingly and per the policy the UWC shall consist of a Faculty Director or Coordinator with expertise in “Writing in the Disciplines” pedagogy who will serve as committee chair, the Composition Coordinator, one representative from each college, the University Library, a representative from the Office of Academic Programs, and a representative from the Office of Assessment and Program Review. It is recommended the University Writing Center Coordinator be included as well.

The Executive Committee of the Academic Senate is recruiting members for the 2025-2026 Academic Senate standing committees. The Bylaws of the Academic Senate(PDF) provide information on the standing committees. Standing Committees meet Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. except for Wednesday when Academic Senate meetings are scheduled. The members of the standing committees shall be appointed by the Executive Committee and serve a one-year term. The exception is the Budget Committee where appointed faculty members serve three (3) year staggered terms (unless otherwise stated).
The following are vacancies per constituency:
- Academic Affairs Committee - Two (2) vacancies for CBA and CLASS
- Academic Programs Committee - One (1) vacancy for COL
- Elections and Procedures Committee - Two (2) vacancies for CBA and SCI

The First Year Experience (FYE) program at Cal Poly Pomona is a student success program for first-year students, Freshmen and Transfer. Our program helps students adapt to college by offering programs such as Bronco Scholars, PolyTransfer, CPP Campus Common Read, PolyX, College-Based First Year Experience Courses, and other developmental programs throughout the first years of college to foster student success. The committee typically meets biweekly for one hour.

Faculty serving on the CRTPC must be tenured and have the rank of professor, Librarian, or counselor.

The CRTPC shall be elected before 3rd week in April.

A majority of votes cast, by secret ballot, shall be required for election, if not a runoff is required.

Tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to serve. Self-nomination is permitted.
CGFS Responsibilities (as defined in AS-2400-112-AA):
- To implement the campus plan for the Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity Program, including inviting and reviewing faculty proposals for grants, recommending awards, and coordinating an evaluation of the effectiveness of the program.
- To award seed grants to support preliminary activities, funded through the Research Office, for the purpose of increasing the recipients' ability to compete successfully for extramural funding.
- To liaise with the proposed Undergraduate Research Faculty Advisory Council
- To promote the development of research, scholarship, and creative activities in the members' constituencies, by having the individual Council members act as liaison with other faculty members in their constituencies.
- To ensure co-ordination between the Council and URFAC, the Council should contain at least one member from URFAC in an ex-officio capacity. The Council should be represented in the same way on URFAC.
- The Council will select one of its regularly elected members to represent them on URFAC.
