Tutoring

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) Tutoring Programs are certified through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), an international tutoring organization. The LRC's CRLA certification process sets an internationally accepted standard of tutor training for the purpose of providing tutors with skills, recognition, and positive reinforcement for successful work.  The LRC tutoring services are free to all Cal Poly Pomona undergraduate and graduate students.  

Bronco Tutoring provides one-on-one and small group tutoring on an appointment, online, and walk-in basis for courses in math, science, engineering, business, social sciences, liberal arts, etc. (courses other than reading and writing).

The Reading, Advising, & Mentoring Program (RAMP) provides eligible students with services to assist with retention and graduation including reading tutorials, advising, peer mentoring, a 1-unit course, and a variety of academic, professional, and financial workshops. The University Writing Center (UWC) offers one-on-one and small group tutoring on essays, the GWT, application letters, memos, reports, research papers, and other assignments. The UWC offers these services on an appointment and drop-in basis.

Online Tutoring

The LRC offers online tutoring for writing assignments and subject-specific material. Students can self-enroll through Blackboard.

  • Click on Organizations and search for LRC Online Tutoring.
  • Choose Enroll from the drop-down menu.
  • Click Submit.
  • Read the online tutoring submission directions for writing (PDF) and for course-specific tutoring (PDF) before submitting your first assignment.

Scheduling Appointments  

Come to the LRC or call (909)869-3502 to register in the scheduling system, Accudemia. Once registered, students can make appointments online, check for drop-in availability, and track tutoring activity. See the Accudemia Scheduling Manual (PDF) for more information.
