Cal Poly Pomona has received a $7.5 million National Science Foundation grant — one of the largest in its history — to launch the Center for Research Advancement in Smart Manufacturing (CREST-RASM). Led by Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Professor Shokoufeh Mirzaei, the center will use AI to advance research in robotics, digital twin technology, extended reality and cybersecurity, while training more than 120 students to support sustainable and globally competitive manufacturing.

$7.5M grant will fund AI research center at Cal Poly Pomona

The U.S. National Science Foundation awarded Cal Poly Pomona a $7.5 million grant for the creation of the college’s Center for Research Advancement in Smart Manufacturing, or CREST-RASM, which will help budding engineers and scientists understand manufacturing systems, according to a news release at cpp.edu/news.
