About

Dr. Barbara Bromley joined the Department of Education in 1988 and has been Program Coordinator for the Education Specialist credential programs since 2006. She earned her PhD from UC Riverside with a focus on special education and severe disabilities. She also holds a certificate in Rehabilitation Technology from San Diego State University and a certificate in Leadership and Technology Management from Cal State Northridge. Her scholarly work has focused on assistive technology for individuals with moderate/severe disabilities, including one of only a few studies published on the use of YouTube by the disability community. She is interested in disability advocacy and served for many years on local and state developmental disability advisory boards. Dr. Bromley has published articles in scholarly journals and has presented her work at conferences both locally and nationally. She teaches courses in positive behavior supports, curriculum and instruction for students with moderate/severe disabilities, and inclusive practices for general education.
