NSF ExFAB BioFoundry

The ExFAB Biofoundry (Biofoundry for Extreme & Exceptional Fungi, Archaea and Bacteria) is a knowledge hub for biotechnology and life sciences innovation, empowering researchers to advance their science and fostering the next generation of biotech leaders.

The Biofoundry is a collaboration between UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, and Cal Poly Pomona.

ExFAB CSU Scholars

This program provides CSU masters students the opportunity to participate in a ten-week paid summer internship in ExFAB laboratories at either UC Santa Barbara or UC Riverside. The ExFAB CSU Scholars will conduct in-depth research projects using state-of-the-art biotechnology instrumentation with activities designed to bolster both professional and career skills.

Summer 2025 Program

  • Program Dates: June 9 - August 15, 2025
  • Paid Internship: $12,000 stipend plus housing
  • Spots available at UC Santa Barbara or UC Riverside
  • Application deadline: March 10, 2025 at 11:59pm
