Supporting Our Undocumented and Immigrant Community
Our Commitment
Cal Poly Pomona is deeply committed to creating a campus environment where all Broncos—regardless of immigration status—feel welcome, valued, and supported. Undocumented Student Services (USS) provides guidance, advocacy, and resources to help undocumented, mixed-status, and immigrant students, as well as faculty and staff, achieve personal and academic goals. This page offers key information and policies designed to ensure the safety, privacy, and success of our community.
Promoting a Safe and Secure Campus
In alignment with California State University (CSU) policy and the December 2024 guidance from the California Attorney General — Promoting a Safe and Secure Campus for All, Cal Poly Pomona does not assist immigration officials engaged in enforcement activities on campus, including those from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Our commitment is to protect the rights and privacy of all members of the CPP community while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
Campus Police and Immigration Status
Under current state law, the Cal Poly Pomona University Police Department (UPD) cannot initiate contact, detention, questioning, or arrest of any student, employee, or visitor based on suspected undocumented immigration status or for the purpose of determining an individual’s immigration status.
Furthermore, UPD does not participate in joint operations with federal immigration authorities to investigate, detain, or arrest individuals for violations of immigration laws.
University Designated Official
State law requires each CSU campus to designate an official who must be notified when immigration officers are expected to enter, will enter, or have entered the campus to execute a federal immigration order. This official is responsible for verifying the validity of any warrants, court orders, or subpoenas.

Important Facts
The university does not share information with anyone, including law enforcement authorities, about immigration status, religion, nationality, ethnicity or other information about individual students and employees without a student's or employee’s permission, unless presented with a judicially issued subpoena or other legally binding requirement. Immigration enforcement is the responsibility of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, not the university.
Cal Poly Pomona keeps student and personnel records private and will not share such information with immigration agencies unless legally compelled to do so.
