About the Program

The Master of Science in Digital Marketing at Cal Poly Pomona is a STEM-designated program that offers students the flexibility to specialize in one of two tracks: (1) Digital Marketing Strategy or (2) Marketing Analytics. Alternatively, students may customize a balanced curriculum by selecting electives from both tracks to suit their individual learning goals. The curriculum, developed in collaboration with industry leaders and expert faculty, reflects current industry trends and integrates practical marketing skills with modern data science techniques. Through hands-on projects and valuable networking opportunities, students graduate well-prepared to thrive in the dynamic digital marketing landscape.

Courses

The MS in Digital Marketing offers a 1- or 2-year cohort program with 34 units. The year-round program will include classes in the fall, spring, and summer terms. This program is designed for students and business professionals who want to be equipped with knowledge in marketing data science and analytics to inform marketing strategic planning and execution processes critical in the digital economy.

  • Fast Track Application for CPP Undergraduates: No transcript needed for CPP students.
  • Admission Time: Twice a year, fall and spring
  • Completion Time: For fall admission, both the 1-year cohort and the 2-year cohort completion roadmaps are available. For spring admission, however, the 2-year roadmap can be completed in 1.5 years or 2 years. Students who entered the program prior to fall 2025 will follow the old completion roadmap. Students entering the program in fall 2025 or later will follow the new curriculum (to be posted). 
  • Emphasis Option: Digital Marketing Strategy or Marketing Analytics
  • Total Credit units needed for degree: 34 credits. However, the new curriculum dictates that students fulfill the total credits with required and elective courses as follows
    • Required Credits: 20 credit units
    • Elective Credits: 14 credit units from either Digital Marketing Strategy or Marketing Analytics emphasis
  • Number of courses available: 18 courses, including electives on digital marketing and marketing data science
  • Class mode: Hybrid (a combination of in-person and online)
  • Class time: Evening and weekend classes to accommodate working professionals.
  • Project requirement: Team-based Culminating Experience Project that involves consulting for client companies.

The MS in Digital Marketing offers a flexible curriculum with required courses and electives from either Digital Marketing Strategy or Marketing Analytics emphasis to tailor the curriculum to their career goals. Students who would rather have a balanced approach can customize their curriculum by selecting electives from both emphases. The curriculum can be completed in 1 year, 1.5 years, or 2 years, depending on students’ desire and time of admission (fall or spring). For fall admission, 1-year or 2-year cohort roadmaps are available. For spring admission, the 2-year roadmap can be expedited in 1.5 years.

  • 5 or higher overall GPA
  • Personal statement

  • English proficiency test for international applicants
