The Polytechnic Approach

Build a robust foundation with courses focusing on children of different ages and abilities. Study alternative narratives in early childhood education and approach the field with social justice and equity at the top of mind. Design support programs and create environments that help young children thrive. Through service learning and internships, you will gain the skills for your dream career and learn to advocate for young children no matter their circumstances.

Courses

The Non-Teaching option gives you the competencies to work with young children and families in diverse contexts based on your career goals and interests (i.e., social work, child life, school psychology, counseling etc.). This emphasis provides you with the ability to choose courses within our department to fit your desired career path. You will complete a capstone course in which you will apply what you have learned via an internship or project.
