Roadmap to Declare a Major

In the Undeclared Advising program, students work with the Undeclared Advising team to declare a major by the end of the first year. Here are some recommendations to help you find the right major during your first year: 

• Meet with your undeclared advisor to discuss major and careers of interest
• Explore academic department websites and the Declaration of Major Tool
• Take assessments such as the Strong Interest Inventory to explore potential career paths
• Meet with a Career Counselor from the Career Center
• Research the different careers that interest you
• Attend major/career information sessions sponsored by the Undeclared Advising Program
• Explore MyBAR to find out about clubs and organizations related to your interests

• Meet with your undeclared advisor to discuss the majors that interest you the most and review change of major requirements 
• Meet with an academic advisor from your top majors of interest for more information
• Attend major/career information sessions sponsored by the Undeclared Advising Program and the major departments of your interests
• Once you have fulfilled the requirements to declare the major of your choice, submit the Change of Major E-Form
