Community Empowerment Series: Healthy Relationships & DV Awareness

Facilitated by Elsie Miranda of Project Sister Family Services and Rhonda Dixon of Survivor Advocacy Services, this workshop will help participants recognize the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships, understand the dynamics of domestic violence and coercive control, and learn how to safely support someone who may be experiencing abuse. Participants will also connect with advocacy organizations, legal resources, and support services available on campus and throughout the community.

Gather & Remember: A Día de los Muertos Watch Party

Join us at the Community Innovation Hub for a free Día de los Muertos Watch Party featuring a special presentation by Dr. Manuel Aguilar Moreno. This gathering offers an opportunity for students, families, faculty, staff, and community members to learn more about the history, traditions, and cultural significance of Día de los Muertos.

Together, we will explore how this meaningful tradition honors the lives and memories of loved ones while celebrating culture, identity, family, and community. Whether you are familiar with Día de los Muertos or learning about it for the first time, all are welcome to attend, connect with others, and reflect on the importance of remembering and honoring those who came before us.

Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Celebrate Día de los Muertos with the Community Innovation Hub, Hope Esperanza, and CECCHE. This family-friendly gathering will honor loved ones and celebrate culture, remembrance, and community through a shared community ofrenda. Guests are invited to participate in paper marigold and bouquet-making activities, enjoy free pan dulce and hot chocolate, and contribute to the ofrenda by bringing a photo or small memento of a loved one, if desired. Families will also have the opportunity to pick up free Halloween costumes for their children while supplies last. Join us for an afternoon of creativity, connection, and celebration.

Empower yourself with the knowledge, skills, and community connections needed to advocate for yourself and others. Facilitated by Professor Dora Lopez from Cal Poly Pomona’s Office of Interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies in partnership with Gente Organizada, this interactive workshop will help participants learn how to navigate public services, communicate their needs, and access resources that support individual, family, and community well-being.

Beads of Community Workshop

Join the Community Innovation Hub in partnership with Cal Poly Pomona Tribal Relations for Beads of Community, an engaging hands-on workshop facilitated by Desiree Renee Martinez.
