Skills Required: This position is recommended for motivated, hard-working individuals who are preparing to become successful turfgrass professionals. Applicants must be enrolled in or graduating from a two- or four-year turf management program, or related field. Future promotions are possible for graduates following the internship.
Paid: Yes. $11 per hour with plenty of overtime, on-site housing, uniforms, golf privileges, and networking opportunities.

Sea Mercy
Location: Fiji
Position: Remote Island Soils Education (RISE) Internship
Duties: The RISE internship provides agricultural students and alumni the opportunity to work with a team of international volunteers providing soils and economic development training for hundreds of remote island communities across the South Pacific. Each remote island has unique challenges that must be addressed (irrigation, soil, income resources) requiring each RISE program to be tailored to meet those challenges. Skills Required: Interns must be flexible, patient, motivated, self-directed, and culturally sensitive. Interns should become familiar with remote island communities and must be capable of overcoming setbacks and frustrations that are often typical when working in a developing country. Interns also must be able to work well in both field and office environments.

Landscapes USA
Location: San Diego, Calif.
Position: Internship
Duties: Landscapes USA offers a 10-week-long internship program that is designed to get your feet wet in all the areas of a landscaping company. This program is not a "work you to death behind a mower" program for a paycheck. LUSA is serious about training the next generation of leaders. While the program gets you in the field an average of two and a half days a week, that experience includes a variety of tasks learning all areas of production, not just labor.
Skills Required: at least two years completed in horticulture or related degree program; good grades; personable; manage lots of different activities and are seen as a leader

Monterey Bay Ocean Science Research for Undergraduates
Location: Cal State Monterey Bay

Duties: Students conduct 10 weeks of independent research under the supervision of a research mentor. In addition, students complete a suite of professional development workshops and training. The summer culminates with the Summer Research Symposium.

Ocean Global Change Biology Research Experiences for Undergraduates
Location: UC Santa Barbara
Position: Internship
Duties: The goal of the OGCB REU program is to provide students with a supportive environment in which to conduct a student-led project on the impacts of environmental change on marine ecosystems and organism. UCSB has a world-class research faculty and a community of people that support and foster undergraduates in research experiences. In addition to a focus on standard research practices (e.g., experimental design, hypothesis testing, and data analysis), OGCB participants will gain valuable training in areas of professional development, science communication, and building leadership skills, which they will be able to practice during group activities and the end-of-program colloquium. Furthermore, the location allows participants to interact with other groups on the West Coast in order to provide students with a broad-based experience in marine science (e.g., the NOAA Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary located on the UCSB campus). Lastly, UCSB is the site of two NSF-funded LTERs – the Santa Barbara Coastal (SBC) LTER and the Moorea Coral Reef (MCR) LTER. Students will be able to take advantage of research and educational activities within these groups.
