A department within the

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at CalPolyPomona is a confidential, comprehensive, short-term mental health facility with licensed mental health clinicians/therapists who provide basic clinical services, as defined by California State University's Executive Order No. 1053.  Basic clinical services entail short-term individual, group, and couple psychotherapy services; crisis intervention and critical incident debriefing services; outreach services, such as psychoeducational tabling, workshops, and presentations; consultation on student mental health issues to the campus community; and referral services for proper mental health treatment.  Services are available to currently enrolled CalPolyPomona students only, and who have paid the mandatory student health fee.  We offer both in-person and telehealth services for our campus community.

The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services at CalPolyPomona is to advance student success by promoting community wellness, removing psychological barriers, facilitating self-awareness, and cultivating the personal strengths of CalPolyPomona students through culturally relevant mental health services designed to transform their personal, social, and academic lives.  Counseling and Psychological Services is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services.

Counseling and Psychological Services is located in Building 66, Room 116 (Bronco Bookstore building).  We are available for in-person services Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. thru 4:30 p.m.  Counseling and Psychological Services operates 12 months of the year, excluding holidays and campus closures.

International Accreditation of Counseling Services

Counseling and Psychological Services is proud to announce that we have met the standards for accreditation through 2025 with the International Accreditation of Counseling Services.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides 24-hour confidential support for individuals in distress and resources for you and your loved ones.  The service is available 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Crisis Text Line

The Crisis Text Line provides free, 24/7, text-based mental health support and crisis intervention.  Text "HOME" to 741741 to connect to a volunteer crisis counselor.

The Care Center

The Care Center is the first place for students to connect to who may be working through multiple challenges and are in distress.  The Care Center connects students to on- and off-campus resources, provides support and advocacy and other basic needs services.

Survivor Advocacy Services

Survivor Advocacy Services (SAS) provides prevention education and confidential support and advocacy services for community members (students, staff, and faculty) affected by sexual violence, dating or domestic abuse, and stalking.

MyLifeMatters by Empathia

Services provided by CAPS are available to currently enrolled students.  Employees of CalPolyPomona may inquire about mental health services through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) called MyLifeMatters by Empathia.
