ESTEAM is a year-long course in which multidisciplinary teams of students take a new product/service from concept to the market place. In ESTEAM, you work in cross-functional teams to identify a customer pain/gain, create and prototype a viable solution, develop business, marketing, and financial plans, source for materials, produce and market the product/service, and meet specific financial and strategic objectives. You will use you functional expertise to coordinate with students from other disciplines to ensure the successful launch of a new product/service. The course will satisfy six to eight units of the senior project requirement for most students.
Why Take The Course?
So that you can gain experience in technology innovation and starting a business! The hallmark of a Cal Poly Pomona education is its emphasis on “learning-by-doing.” This course will give you the opportunity to apply what you have learned in your functional specialization to collaboratively design, build and take a new product/service to market. This course has gained the attention of NASA and students in the class will have an opportunity to work with NASA inventors.
You must be an upper division student with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
