Windows 11
The IT&IP Division is installing Windows 11 as the primary Windows operating system on PC-based computers. Please refer to the Windows 11 upgrade and deployment project timeline below. Common questions and helpful tips and tricks regarding Windows 11 have also been noted below for reference.
Windows 11 Project Timeline

| June - August, 2024 | New & existing classroom and computer lab stations will receive Windows 11 (as applicable) |
| January 7, 2025 | Windows 11 will be required on our Faculty & Staff PC computers and prompt users for installation |
| Winter Break, 2025 | New & existing classroom and computer lab stations will receive Windows 11 (as applicable) |
| June - August, 2025 | New & existing classroom and computer lab stations will receive Windows 11 (as applicable) |
| September 30, 2025 | All existing PC computers will be on Windows 11 (Windows 10 End-Of-Life) |
Frequently Asked Questions

Based on the Windows 11 Project Timeline referenced above, faculty and staff are able to upgrade their IT&IP-managed computer to Windows 11 using Software Center. From within Software Center, please select "Operating System" from the left menu and install the "Windows 11 23H2 Upgrade". You may upgrade your computer to Windows 11 at your convenience. Please note Windows 11 will eventually be a required upgrade for all PC computers. Please refer to the Windows 11 Project Timeline above for specific dates.

Depending on your computer performance and Internet connection speeds, the Windows 11 upgrade typically takes about 60-120 minutes. Although you may continue to work on your computer during the upgrade process, it is recommended you minimize your usage and save all open documents. The process will require at least one reboot.
