Pumpkin Fest Returns Oct. 2

Thousands of Pumpkins; Lots of Family Activities

The Cal Poly Pomona Pumpkin Fest returns Oct. 2-31, weekends 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday-Friday, 3-8 p.m. A Pomona Valley tradition, the pumpkin patch will feature thousands of Cal Poly Pomona-grown pumpkins for $5-$7 each, fun farm demonstrations, live entertainment, great food and a variety of activities.  The month-long festival will be held at Cal Poly Pomona’s AGRIscapes Center, 4102 S. University Drive, Pomona.

Families can celebrate fall with the return of the gigantic pumpkin patch, hay rides, the corn maze, petting farm, sunflower patch and The Marketplace, a farmer’s market with campus-grown agricultural items, craft vendors and snacks. New activities include rides on the Moo Moo Cow Train pulled by an antique tractor, the Children’s Garden and an expanded Kid’s Country Fair area. Each weekend will feature special activities and live music.  Many will be excited to meet ‘Oreo,’ our celebrity lamb whose name was selected last year in a contest with thousands of public votes. Due to indoor Covid-19 related restrictions, the popular Insect Fair will not be at this year’s event.

“Pumpkin Fest is a fun, family event, and we can’t wait to welcome everybody ‘Back to the Farm’,” says Craig Walters, the festival’s director. “We also hope that you’ll learn something new about farming, which continues to be the #1 industry in California that offers science and technology-related careers for our students.”

To ensure everyone’s safety, advance tickets are required this year to limit the number of attendees and masks may be required for some activities. Walk-up admission will not be allowed. Cal Poly Pomona will continue to follow Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and CPP Campus Guidelines. It is possible those may change, and more masking will be required.

Additional information and tickets are available through the Pumpkin Fest website (http://pumpkinfestival.cpp.edu) Weekend tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for children ages 3 to 12, seniors and those with a Cal Poly Pomona ID. Friday admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children ages 3 to 12, seniors and those with a Cal Poly Pomona ID. Admission is free on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but visitors must register on the website to receive their free ticket.

Wristbands offering unlimited access to most activities – such as the Petting Farm, Corn Maze, and Hay Ride – are $14 each on weekends and $8 on Fridays.

If a visitor or someone in their party develops COVID-19 symptoms after purchasing tickets, but before they come to the Pumpkin Fest, refunds are available.
