CPP-Bred Horses Take Home Titles at National Championships

A CPP-bred Arabian competing at the U.S. Arabian Nationals

Eight horses that were bred at Cal Poly Pomona won titles this fall at the U.S. Arabian Horse National Championships.

In addition, four horses that were foaled by Cal Poly Pomona-bred mares also took won titles at the competition, which was held Oct. 23-31, in Tulsa, Okla.

The winning horses bred at Cal Poly Pomona were:

  • CP Dance Til Dawn, the national champion in the Arabian Country English Pleasure Adult Amateur Owner to Ride (AAOTR) Maturity division. Katie Burr was the rider; the horse is owned by Burrline LLC.
  • CP Shenanigan, the reserve national champion in the Arabian Country English Pleasure AAOTR 19-39 division. Owner Katherine Kirby was the rider.
  • CP Triple Spec, the national champion in the Arabian Country Pleasure Driving Adult Amateur Owner to Drive (AAOTD) category with Carrie Fritz as the rider. Triple Spec was also the reserve national champion in the Arabian Country Pleasure Driving division with rider Jason Krohn. The owner is Shamrock Farms LLC.
  • CP Marquis won a national title in the Arabian Hunter Pleasure AAOTR 19-39 division with rider Lindsay Smith. North by Northwest LLC is the owner.
  • CP Michelangelo won a national title in the Arabian Western Pleasure Junior Horse division with rider Cody Ralston. Eric and Michelle Loftis are the owners.
  • CP Neon Riot won a title in the Arabian Pleasure Driving division. Caralyn Schroter was the rider; the GAA/DPA Trust is the owner.
  • CP Santa Fe Express won a title in the Arabian English Show Hack AAOTR category with owner/rider Cassandra Stafford.
  • CP Tenacious also won in the Arabian Country English Pleasure AAOTR 55 & Over division with owner/rider Allison Elwell.

The winning horses from Cal Poly Pomona-bred mares were:

  • Boltz Afire CA, which was the national champion in the Arabian English Pleasure Junior Horse division with rider Jim Stachowski. The owners are Sherry and Bruce Layne. The horse’s dam was CP Dansing Ghazi; the animal was bred by Case Arabians LLC.
  • The Capitalist, which won a title in the Arabian English Pleasure Junior Horse division with John Byer McCarthy as rider. Nonesuch Farms Inc. is the owner. The horse’s dam was CP Madison; The Capitalist was bred by Katie Harvey.
  • EVG Tridan won titles in the Arabian Country English Pleasure AAOTR 36-54 and Arabian Country English Pleasure AAOTR Maturity divisions with owner/rider Lori Foster. The horse was bred by Evergreen Arabians LLC, and its dam was CP Dansing Diva.
  • Cey Hey won a title in the Arabian English Show Hack category. The horse was ridden by James O. Lowe and is owned by Nancy O’Reilly. Strawberry Banks Farm bred the horse, whose dam was CP Shiraz.
