Across from the BioTrek facilities along Camphor Lane there is evidence of Walnut Woodland, a rare and endangered plant community in southern California. It once was a prominent member of our southern California landscape, but today it is treasured in the pockets where it still survives. The Walnut Tree (Juglans californica) is significant to the native groups of California for its use as food, medicine, and construction material.
