Short Biography

L. Lin Ong (Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is an Assistant Professor of International Business and Marketing at the College of Business Administration, Cal Poly Pomona (California State Polytechnic University, Pomona). Dr. Ong has published in the Journal of Business Research and Journal of Consumer Affairs. 

 

Dr. Ong's research looks broadly at the interaction of business and society, with a particular focus on consumer vulnerability in digital and financial spaces. She is interested in increasing consumer well-being through effective marketing strategies and public policy. Dr. Ong's doctoral dissertation analyzed the economic networks and decision-making of low-income female microentrepreneurs in coastal Kenya. She has lived, worked, or traveled on every continent except for Antarctica.

 

At CPP Dr. Ong teaches in the fields of international business, international marketing, and market research. As an educator, she is passionate about helping students hone their critical thinking skills and connect management theories to current events, increasing their ability to make effective business decisions. 

 

Dr. Ong currently is serving as Director of New Professionals on the Board of the Insights Association West Chapter, a market insights and analytics professional organization. She also is a Faculty Advisor for the Center for Customer Insights and Digital Marketing at CPP. In 2018-20 she served as the Research Scholar in Data Innovation for FP CAPE, a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded global health project, focused on Nigeria and the DRC. Before entering academia, Dr. Ong was a management consultant with Deloitte Consulting's Strategy and Operations division.
