Orientation Glossary

The terms we use to talk about new student orientation at Cal Poly Pomona might be new to you or different from what your previous institution used. Check out this glossary to learn what orientation-related terms mean.

BroncoDirect Student Center: Your student portal where you can find your To Do List, holds, enrollment appointment and more. It is also where you search and register for classes. You can access your Student Center at my.cpp.edu by logging in with your BroncoName and BroncoPassword.

Bronco ID Number: Your Bronco ID number is the 9-digit number you're assigned when you apply to the university. You can find this number in your admissions communication, Degree Progress Report and Unofficial Transcripts. Make sure to include this number in your email or have it handy whenever you are communicating with an official CPP department, including Orientation Services.

BroncoName: This the username you use to log in to CPP online resources, like MyCPP, the Online Orientation, and Zoom, among many others.

Enrollment Appointment: A specific day and time that you are able to register for classes in an upcoming term. It is also sometimes called your registration appointment, enrollment date or enrollment time. During Orientation, your enrollment appointment will be during your Virtual Advising & Registration session.

iMeet CPP: An online small group meeting with you and other new students led by an Orientation Leader. This meeting is a chance to meet other new students and learn more about student life at CPP.

MyCPP: Your main portal to CPP's online resources.

Online Orientation: A self-paced online course that introduces students to the programs, resources, services, and departments at CPP. There are various sections, quiz questions, and a final test you must pass with an 80% or higher to receive a certification of completion. You must complete the online orientation prior to Virtual Advising & Registration.

Orientation Leader: A current Cal Poly Pomona student leader who serves as a guide to a group of new students during their orientation experience.

Transfer Credit Report (TCR): A tool in your Student Center that shows you the courses you've transferred from community colleges or other institutions and how they translate to CPP classes. Your TCR also shows your AP, CLEP, or IB test scores.

Virtual Advising & Registration: This is an online small group advising meeting with you and other new students in your major led by your academic department. This meeting covers your academic requirements and first-semester course requirements. You will also register for your first-semester classes during this meeting.

Virtual Orientation Day: This is the day you attend both iMeet CPP and Virtual Advising & Registration.

Zoom: A web conferencing platform used to conduct online meetings. You will log into Zoom with your Cal Poly Pomona username to join your Virtual Orientation Day sessions.
