The following majors are required to take the ALEKS PPL Assessment:

  • College of Science: All majors except Kinesiology
  • College of Engineering: All majors
  • College of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology major

You will not be able to register for a mathematics course without taking the ALEKS PPL Assessment. The deadline to complete ALEKS is June 1. Since ALEKS is designed to be a guided learning experience, we recommend starting your work on ALEKS by May 15, 2021. This will give you time to complete the required learning modules in order to do your best on the official fourth assessment (and optional fifth assessment).

The only exceptions from the ALEKS PPL Assessment are as follows:

  • You scored a 3 or higher on the AP AB and/or AP BC Calculus exam.
  • You scored a 4 or higher on IB Mathematics HL.
  • You earned a C or higher for equivalent transferable coursework from a community college.
If you took the AP or IB exams in spring 2021, please also take the ALEKS PPL Assessment. You likely will not have your scores by orientation.

Before Virtual Orientation Day (June)

You must complete your CPP Online Orientation in order for your Orientation Registration (ROS) hold to be removed. Be sure to finish your CPP Online Orientation before your Virtual Orientation Day. It takes about 2 hours to complete. You can save your progress and return to complete it. We recommend you take a few breaks throughout the CPP Online Orientation. You can use any Internet-connected device to complete the Online Orientation (computer, tablet or smartphone).

Successfully completing the CPP Online Orientation means that you have viewed all sections and passed the final test with a score of 80% or higher. Once you complete the CPP Online Orientation, your Orientation Registration (ROS) hold will be removed the next business day.

All videos in the CPP Online Orientation are closed captioned. If you would like to have the CPP Online Orientation text read aloud, we recommend viewing the orientation using the Chrome browser with the Read Aloud extension enabled.

The CPP Online Orientation is available starting June 1.

For details about submitting official transcripts and test scores, visit the Admitted Freshmen section of the CPP Admission website.
