Freshman Checklist (Summer 2020)

You must accept your admission offer and pay your ECD in order to make your Virtual Advising and Registration reservation and access your Online Orientation.

Tutorial: How to Accept Your Admission Offer & Pay Your ECD

Virtual Advising and Registration reservations were available from May 15 to June 8.

You must complete your CPP Online Orientation in order for your Orientation Registration (ROS) hold to be removed. Be sure to finish your CPP Online Orientation before your Virtual Advising and Registration date. It takes about 2 hours to complete. You can save your progress and return to complete it. We recommend you take a few breaks throughout the Online Orientation program. You can use any Internet-connected device to complete the Online Orientation (computer, tablet or smartphone).

Successfully completing the CPP Online Orientation means that you have viewed all nine sections and passed the final test with a score of 80% or higher. Once you complete the CPP Online Orientation, your Orientation Registration (ROS) hold will be removed the next business day.

The Online Orientation is available starting June 1. You must submit your ECD before you can access the CPP Online Orientation.

In general, the following majors need to take the ALEKS PPL Assessment unless exempt from it:

  • College of Science: All majors except Kinesiology
  • College of Engineering: All majors
  • College of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology major

More specifically, if your major requires you to take MAT 1140, MAT 1200, or MAT 1300, then you are required to take the ALEKS PPL assessment unless you have achieved one of the following:

  • You earned a 3 or higher on the AP AB and/or BC Calculus exam.
  • You took College Algebra (as the prerequisite for MAT 1200) or College Algebra and Trigonometry (as the prerequisites for MAT 1140 and MAT 1300) at an accredited college and earned a C or higher.
  • You earned a 4 or higher on IB Mathematics HL.

NOTE: Your SAT math score and/or your ACT math score do not make you eligible to take MAT 1140, MAT 1200, or MAT 1300, regardless of your scores. You are only exempt from taking the ALEKS PPL assessment if you meet the conditions stated above.

Be sure to plan plenty of time to complete the ALEKS PPL process, as it involves several practice exams and study time.
