Depending on the nature of your request, you will receive a response from either the Disability Resource Center or the Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement. All videos in the CPP Online Orientation are closed captioned. If you would like to have the CPP Online Orientation text read aloud, we recommend viewing the orientation using the Chrome browser with the Read Aloud extension enabled.

Your BroncoName is your Cal Poly Pomona user name, the primary identifier for campus-wide computer systems. It is also the part preceding @cpp.edu in your email address. You will need to claim your BroncoName before making your Virtual Orientation Experience reservation.

Go to the CPP Account Claiming website to claim your BroncoName. You will need your BroncoNumber (your student ID number) and your claim code, which is your birthdate using the YYMMDD format.

For questions about or help with the Account Claiming process, contact the IT Service Desk at (909) 869-6776 or helpdesk@cpp.edu.

Completing the CPP Pre-Orientation Modules

Complete Module 1 and 2 before your Orientation Day to ensure your ROS hold is removed and you will be able to register for your first-semester courses. Module 3 must be completed by the start of the Fall '24 semester. Successfully completing the CPP Pre-Orientation modules means that you have viewed all sections and passed the final test with a score of 80% or higher. Not completing the CPP Pre-Orientation modules puts you at risk for not being able to register for future semesters.

The CPP Pre-Orientation modules are self-paced that you can complete at your convenience and should take about two hours to complete. You do not have to complete all the modules at one time. We recommend you take some breaks throughout. You can save your progress and return to complete it at a future date.

The CPP Pre-Orientation is divided into three modules to provide you with important new student information when it is most relevant to you.

  • Module 1 and 2 prepare you for your on-campus orientation experience and course registration:
    • Check back in March to see when modules 1 and 2 will be available.
  • Module 3 prepares you to begin your first-semester at CPP and provide important information about campus life.
    • Check back in March to see when module 3 will be available.

Be sure to complete module 1 and 2 of the CPP pre-orientation before your Orientation Day to ensure your ROS hold is removed and you can register for your first-semester classes. You can use any Internet-connected device to complete these modules (computer, tablet or smartphone).

Successfully completing the entire CPP pre-orientation means that you have viewed all sections and passed the final test with a score of 80% or higher. Not completing the CPP pre-orientation puts you at risk for not being able to register for future semesters.

All videos in the CPP pre-orientation are closed captioned. If you would like to have the text read aloud, we recommend viewing the orientation using the Chrome browser with the Read Aloud extension enabled.

Attending Orientation Day

All Virtual Orientation Day sessions are on Zoom. Your reminder emails will contain your Zoom links. Please keep these emails!

All CPP students have a CPP Zoom account. Using your CPP Zoom account allows us to accurately record your attendance. You can access Zoom via MyCPP or by going to cpp.zoom.us and logging in with your BroncoName and password. Even though you can use Zoom on a smartphone or tablet, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer for all Virtual Orientation Experience components.

Tutorial: Starting a CPP Zoom Account

Virtual Orientation Day takes place on Zoom. To ensure you are prepared to use Zoom, complete ALL of these steps on the device you will be using BEFORE Virtual Orientation Day:
  1. Download and install Zoom if you do not already have it installed on your device.
  2. If you already have Zoom installed, check for updates to make sure you have the latest version.
  3. Log in with your BroncoName and password. You must be logged in with your CPP account for your attendance to be recorded.

Log into Zoom

If you do not attend your scheduled Orientation Day, your admission to CPP will be withdrawn. If you wish to be considered for a reinstatement after being withdrawn, you will need to file a formal appeal with the Office of Admissions.

If you can no longer attend your Orientation Day, contact the Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Be certain to include your Bronco ID number so we can assist you quickly.

If you no longer have plans to attend Cal Poly Pomona, please make sure to complete the following Admission Withdrawal Form.

Academic Advising and Course Registration

Advising and registration is conducted in a small group format by major. In a small group setting, you will meet with academic advisors and registration assistants from your major and college. Advisors and registration assistants will provide guidance on your first-semester coursework. If you need to, you can complete your course registration over several days since your registration window is open for one week. If you have in-depth questions about your academic plan, you can schedule an advising appointment for a later date.

You will register for your first-semester courses during Advising & Registration on your Orientation Day. Your registration window will remain open for one week so you can make any adjustments to your courses if needed and you will be able to make changes during the add/drop period at the start of the semester.

Information on what you need to register for is available in module 2 of the CPP Pre-Orientation and in your CPP Connect Planner. Your advisors will also discuss what classes you will need to register for on Orientation Day. Be sure to set up your Planner prior to your Orientation Day so you are well-prepared for advising and registration.

You must complete module 1 and 2 of the CPP Pre-Orientation in order for your ROS hold to be removed. Once you complete module 1 and 2, your Orientation Registration (ROS) hold will be removed within 2 business days. Be certain to complete module 1 and 2 before your Orientation Day to ensure that your hold is removed prior to course registration.

You will also need to complete Module 3 by the start of the Fall 2024 semester.

Successfully completing the Pre-Orientation modules means that you have viewed all three parts, all sections, and passed the final test with a score of 80% or higher.

You must attend Orientation Day for your OAV hold to be removed. Your OAV hold will be removed prior to the start of your registration window on Orientation Day once your attendance is recorded.

The deadline to change your major as part of the admissions process has passed. Your next opportunity to change your major will come after your first semester at CPP. You must reserve for an Orientation Day for your admitted major. However, you can let your advisor know of your interest in changing majors so that they can provide you with guidance. Review the Cal Poly Pomona Change of Major Guide for more information about the change of major process.

Orientation Fee

No, you do not have to pay your student orientation fee in order to finalize or confirm your orientation reservation. Please be certain to make your orientation by the reservation deadline, regardless of your ability to pay the fee at the moment. The fee will appear on your student account as a separate charge from your tuition charges (as financial aid is not able to be applied directly to the Orientation Fee). Be sure to pay the fee by the due date indicated to avoid any holds for non-payment.

Your student Orientation fee is posted as soon as you make your Orientation reservation. You will see it listed as ORS Fee on your student account. The fee is due by the date listed on your student account but you are able to pay it earlier if you would like.

Refunds are granted if the following conditions are met:

  • You have not yet completed your Orientation.
  • Your refund request was emailed to orientation@cpp.edu no later than two weeks before your Orientation Day. Be certain to include your BroncoNumber in your email.

Refunds are not granted automatically and you must contact Orientation via email to request a refund. You are not eligible to receive a refund after completing Orientation, despite any change in your admission status or plans to attend Cal Poly Pomona.

The student Orientation fee is a mandatory enrollment fee that cannot be waived. The fee will appear on your student account as a separate charge from your tuition charges (as financial aid is not able to be applied directly to the Orientation Fee). Be sure to pay the fee by the due date indicated to avoid any holds for non-payment.

Yes, the cost of parking is included in your student Orientation fee. You will receive a reminder email prior to your reservation date that will include your parking permit as well as a campus map, so you know where to park. Please make sure to print out your permit and bring it with you.
