Pursue interdisciplinary knowledge as you explore various subjects, from arts and humanities to math and natural sciences. With the General Studies pathway, you will create your own degree to reach your dream profession, whether graduate school or a career in the nonprofit, corporate, public health or education sectors.
The Polytechnic Approach
Develop a broad intellectual base with courses in geology, history, kinesiology and more. Discuss education and knowledge in the context of a diverse and global society. You will gain a well-rounded perspective and hone your abilities as an analytical thinker and dynamic problem solver. Connect ideas across disciplines, communicate effectively and make meaningful contributions across a variety of professional fields.

The General Studies pathway is a fit for people seeking graduate school or a professional career in nonprofit, corporate, public health, education, and more. It is a flexible pathway that builds analytical and communication skills you’ll use in any area and allows you to build knowledge and abilities in two or more areas of interest. General Studies students select from four emphases: Sustainability, Community Studies, Pre-Professional, and General, and take 10 core Liberal Studies courses with all other LS students--the major's core.
