Vipul Mistry 2010, Chemistry

I can’t say how thankful I am to have had the opportunity to graduate from such an amazing university. The value of college has seriously altered the course of my life. From the people in my life to the amazing opportunities that have been given to me, I cannot explain how truly grateful I am to have experienced everything that I have. I am glad, I went to Cal Poly Pomona.

I am currently working at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California. Sandia Corporation operates Sandia National Laboratories as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and supports numerous federal, state, and local government agencies, companies, and organizations.

Gregorio V. Sanchez 2001, Chemistry

During my time in the Department of Chemistry at Cal Poly I found the facility and staff to be knowledgeable and genuinely concerned about my educational growth and career aspirations. With their guidance and the opportunities afford because of Cal Poly’s ‘Application of Knowledge’ philosophy I was able to build the necessary knowledge base and skill sets to successfully complete graduate school and pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career.

After completing my graduate studies at the University of Southern California in 2006, I began my career as a Research Scientist in the Pharmaceutical industry. I am currently a Scientist in the Research and Development organization of a Fortune 500 ‘Top 10’ Pharmaceutical company.

Dr. Jonathan Kelber Chemistry (BS 1999, MS 2003)

Dr. Kelber began his scientific career at Cal Poly as an undergraduate working with Dr. Patrick Mobley for his senior

research project and then went on to teach high school. Later, he returned to CPP to earn his MS degree

in Professor Mobley's lab. After earning his PhD at UC San Diego, he is now as Associate Professor in the biology department at Cal State

Northridge, studying the mechanisms of how cancer begins and metastasizes which will hopefully lead to earlier detection and treatment

methods. See https://www2.calstate.edu/impact-of-the-csu/student-success/Profiles/Pages/Jonathan-Kelber.aspx to read more

about Dr. Kelber's journey and how he is "paying it forward" with CSU students.
