California is changing. The workforce is evolving, technology is transforming how we learn and work, and the needs of our students and communities continue to grow. Cal Poly Pomona is preparing for what comes next.

CPP 2030 is our commitment to build the university California needs next. By investing in our people, transforming how we work and serve, and creating a distinctive student experience, we will turn learning into career opportunity, economic mobility, and lasting impact for California.

Our Vision for 2030

By 2030, Cal Poly Pomona will be recognized as the nation’s leading public polytechnic university for opportunity, innovation, upward mobility, and student success.

We will strengthen the value of a Cal Poly Pomona degree by preparing every graduate for career success, workforce leadership, and economic mobility. We will modernize how the university operates, elevate our visibility and reputation, and invest in the people, culture, and innovation that make our mission possible.

At the heart of CPP 2030 is a simple but ambitious belief:

We do not measure success by the students we admit. We measure success by the leaders they become.

CPP 2030 Initiatives

CPP 2030 is supported by initiatives designed to strengthen student success, expand affordability, modernize the university, and create new opportunities for our campus community.

At Cal Poly Pomona, learning extends beyond the classroom. Our polytechnic approach connects knowledge with practice, giving students opportunities to apply what they learn, solve real-world challenges, and prepare for meaningful careers.

The Cal Poly Pomona Promise builds on that tradition with an ambitious commitment: Every student should have access to a meaningful career-connected experience before graduation.

Connecting Learning to Career Opportunity

The Promise will strengthen the connection between academic programs and the world of work. By building partnerships with employers, industry, alumni, and workforce organizations, we will expand opportunities for students to gain practical experience and develop the skills, knowledge, and professional connections needed to succeed.

Career-connected experiences may include:

  • Paid internships and cooperative education.
  • Undergraduate research and industry projects.
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Service learning and global experiences.
  • Other meaningful opportunities to apply classroom learning in professional and community settings.

As the Promise develops, Cal Poly Pomona will work across academic programs and with external partners to expand access to experiences that align with students’ fields of study and career goals.

Preparing Graduates for California’s Future

Our region is home to a diverse and dynamic economy, with opportunities across industries that need adaptable, collaborative, and creative graduates.

The Cal Poly Pomona Promise will help students connect their education to those opportunities. Students will graduate with more than a diploma. They will have applied experience, professional connections, and stronger pathways to career success and economic mobility.

The Promise also strengthens our role as a talent pipeline for California, supporting employers, communities, and the state’s future workforce.

Part of CPP 2030

The Cal Poly Pomona Promise is at the center of CPP 2030 and advances our commitment to opportunity, innovation, upward mobility, and student success.

Every Bronco should have the opportunity to learn, do, and become.

Every student deserves a clear path to success and the support to navigate the journey. Cal Poly Pomona has programs, services, and resources across the university that help students meet their needs, continue their education, and achieve their goals.

The Bronco Student Success Ecosystem will connect and strengthen those existing efforts so students experience a university that works together on their behalf.

A University That Works for Students

Students should not have to understand our organizational structure to find help. They should be able to access coordinated, proactive, and accessible support that meets them where they are.

By connecting services and improving how we work across the university, we can make it easier for students to find information, navigate challenges, and connect with the right resources at the right time.

The ecosystem will build on existing programs and partnerships, helping the university work more collaboratively around students’ needs.

Supporting the Whole Student Journey

Student success depends on more than what happens in the classroom. Students may need academic guidance, basic-needs assistance, wellness resources, financial support, or help navigating university processes.

A more connected ecosystem can help students access the resources available to them and strengthen the pathways from enrollment to persistence, graduation, and career success.

Part of CPP 2030

The Bronco Student Success Ecosystem is a central component of the Cal Poly Pomona Promise. By connecting student support with career-connected learning and affordability initiatives, we can help more Broncos stay enrolled, complete their degrees, and achieve their dreams.

When our programs and services work together, more students can thrive.

Affordability is essential to opportunity. At Cal Poly Pomona, we are committed to helping students pursue their education, complete their degrees, and build a stronger future for themselves and their families.

Broncos Covered is an investment in that commitment. The initiative will cover tuition and fees for approximately 50% of Cal Poly Pomona students, with a goal of expanding its reach to 70% of students within four years.

Reducing Financial Barriers

The cost of college can create challenges for students and families. By expanding access to tuition and fee coverage, Broncos Covered will help reduce one of the barriers students face as they work toward degree completion.

The initiative reflects our belief that more students should be able to focus on learning, gaining experience, and preparing for their futures without the burden of overwhelming financial barriers.

Investing in Students and California

When students have greater access to an affordable education, they have more opportunities to complete their degrees, pursue meaningful careers, and contribute to their communities.

Broncos Covered supports the broader goals of 2030 CPP by strengthening student success, advancing economic mobility, and helping more Broncos realize the value of a Cal Poly Pomona education.

Expanding Our Reach

Broncos Covered will begin by covering tuition and fees for approximately 50% of students, with the goal of reaching 70% within four years.

Additional information about eligibility, program implementation, and how students can access the initiative will be shared as details are finalized.

More opportunity for Broncos. A stronger future for California.

A modern university should make it easier for people to learn, teach, research, work, and connect. Through the CPP 2030 Digital Campus, Cal Poly Pomona will modernize its digital infrastructure, simplify processes, and create more connected experiences for students, faculty, and staff.

Our goal is straightforward: reduce the time and effort people spend navigating the university so they can focus on the work that matters most.

Technology That Works for People

Technology should make our university more human, not more complicated.

The CPP 2030 Digital Campus will advance more intuitive digital experiences, integrated services, automation, and data-informed decision-making. By improving how systems and services work together, we can make information easier to access, strengthen communication, and help people complete essential tasks more efficiently.

Modernizing How We Work

Building a technology-enabled university means looking at the full experience, from finding information and accessing services to completing processes and connecting with support.

Through CPP 2030, we will work to identify unnecessary barriers, improve digital infrastructure, and modernize systems that support teaching, research, advising, administration, and student services.

We will also explore how data, automation, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies can strengthen our work while supporting responsible and effective use.

Part of CPP 2030

The CPP 2030 Digital Campus advances our vision of a university that is agile, responsive, and prepared for the future.

By bringing technology and people together, we can strengthen institutional capacity, improve service, and create a more seamless campus experience.

People powered and technology enabled.

Emerging technologies are transforming how people learn, work, create, and solve problems. Cal Poly Pomona will prepare students to engage with these changes and help shape what comes next.

Through the Emerging Technology Hub, we envision opportunities for students to explore emerging technologies, develop practical skills, and become ethical creators, innovators, and leaders.

From Using Technology to Shaping It

Students need more than familiarity with new tools. They need the knowledge, critical thinking, creativity, and ethical judgment to apply technology responsibly and develop solutions to real-world challenges.

The Emerging Technology Hub will support opportunities to learn about artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies through applied experiences, experimentation, collaboration, and innovation.

Connecting Innovation to Real-World Challenges

As a polytechnic university, Cal Poly Pomona is well positioned to connect emerging technologies with hands-on learning and practical problem-solving.

The hub will support our broader efforts to prepare graduates for a changing workforce, strengthen innovation, and create opportunities for collaboration across academic disciplines and with industry and community partners.

Part of CPP 2030

The Emerging Technology Hub advances our commitment to a modern, technology-enabled university. It complements the CPP 2030 Digital Campus by focusing on how students learn about and apply emerging technologies, while the Digital Campus focuses on modernizing university systems, services, and operations.

Together, the initiatives will help Cal Poly Pomona embrace innovation and prepare its community for the future.

Learn today. Shape what comes next.

A vision becomes reality only when it is matched with action and investment. To support the goals of CPP 2030, we created the CPP 2030 Fund. Starting with the 2026-27 academic year, the CPP 2030 Fund will direct $3 million to $5 million annually over the course of four years toward initiatives that advance student success, modernize our university, and invest in our people.

Investing in Our Future

These investments will support innovative ideas that advance student success, strengthen research and scholarship, expand paid internships and career-connected learning, modernize our university through technology and operational excellence, enhance teaching, research, and Learn by Doing spaces, and invest in the professional growth and well-being of our people.

Leveraging Our Bronco Community

Our Bronco herd guides how the CPP 2030 Fund best serves our university mission. Drawing on the experience, expertise and vision of our campus community, funds are awarded competitively to faculty, campus units and student groups through a proposal review process overseen by the President’s Cabinet and the deans of the colleges.

Drawing on a Bright Tomorrow

Resources for the CPP 2030 Fund are possible through Cal Poly Pomona’s Bright Tomorrow Fund. In 2021, philanthropist MacKenzie Scott announced a historic $40 million unrestricted gift to Cal Poly Pomona, accelerating the legacy of philanthropy that defines our history as a university. In response to this unprecedented opportunity, we created the Bright Tomorrow Fund to steward the funds with responsibility, transparency, and clarity, and to maximize their transformational impact.

Details on funding opportunities to be announced shortly.
