Finding Support
Reaching Out to Survivor Advocacy Services
SAS offers support to survivors of sexual abuse, dating/domestic abuse and stalking. SAS peer educators and professional survivor advocate offers a confidential, supportive, and nonjudgmental atmosphere where survivors are encouraged to make their own decisions to address their own situation.
There are a few things that are important to know after experiencing sexual violence, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and/or stalking.
This is Not Your Fault. No one deserves to be assaulted, threatened, or hurt.
Whether or not you decide to report, we are here to support you in whatever you need. It is NOT a weakness to reach out to resources. Survivor Advocacy Services (SAS) exist to provide the campus community with support, advocacy, and on- and off-campus resources.
If you choose to report to law enforcement or Title IX, then you are not ruining that person’s life. They made the choice to perpetrate violence, Not You.
There is no right way to respond to trauma. Everyone is different in how they cope and respond to trauma. It is completely normal not to feel like yourself; having trouble concentrating, sleeping or eating, etc.
For Survivors/Victims
If you are in immediate danger or feel like you are not safe, please call 9-1-1 or the University Police Department at (909) 869-3070 if you are on campus. Safety is a main priority, and if possible, remove yourself from any hostile situation and seek refuge where you feel safe (i.e. a friend's or family member’s home).
If you are hesitant to see a medical provider alone or feel unsafe to do so, there are hospital accompaniments. You have the right to an advocate or support person at all times. Please refer to other resources provided for more information with our partner agencies, Project Sister Family Services and House of Ruth.
Our campus survivor advocate service coordinator is a professional staff member who is here to offer you support and allow you to consider options in a safe and supportive environment. Refer to the contact information on this website.
There a range of resources on and off campus who work with individuals who share similar experiences. Visit the resources page on our website for more information. Some are completely confidential and some are not.
For options on reporting an incident, please refer to the Report@CPP.
