Cold War Discussion

California's Secrets of the Cold War is an event that discussed how secret keeping shaped families and culture during the Cold War.  In addition, participants had a chance to explore how the Cold War influenced California's ethnic diversity. These discussions were based on readings from Karen Piper's A Girl's Guide to Missiles: Growing Up in America's Secret Desert, Mihir Pandya’s article “The Vanishing Act: Stealth Airplanes and Cold War Southern California,” and Thi Bui's The Best We Could Do.  Dylan Bennett and Gabriel Castrillon served as discussion leaders for this dialogue series and they facilitated events at Cal Poly Pomona and the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum.
