The History Department at Cal Poly Pomona welcomes applications to both our undergraduate and graduate programs. Our department is home to nearly 400 (as of Fall 2018) undergraduate history majors, and we also accept from 7 to 9 graduate students every year for our MA degree.
History is an excellent undergraduate major for students who are interested in going into teaching, law, government, business, library science, archival work, the forest service, law enforcement, and many other fields. History majors become expert in critical thinking, research skills, and writing, while also exploring fascinating eras, events, movements, and ideas of the past.
The History Department at Cal Poly Pomona is pleased to offer an MA program in History, with an annual application deadline in the early summer. Our program is mostly designed for current and prospective secondary school teachers who wish to pursue professional development and increase their academic content knowledge and to obtain a higher degree, though candidates with other goals will also be considered.
