Dear Colleagues:
I am writing to share that Pat Hawthorne, University Library Dean, has decided to resign from her position, effective Friday, July 5, 2024. Dean Hawthorne has accepted a new position that will allow her to return to her home state of Texas and be closer to family.
Dean Hawthorne joined Cal Poly Pomona in August 2020 and has been a visionary and collaborative leader. In addition to reopening the University Library after the pandemic closure, she secured two notable gift collections for Special Collections & Archives, launched the Lynn & Claude Coppel Career Collection to help students access career readiness information, and partnered to open the Graduate Resource Center. We are also grateful for her role in chairing CPP’s Presidential Advisory Committee on Native American Cultural Affiliation and Repatriation.
Please join me in thanking Dean Hawthorne for her dedicated service and leadership.
A national search for the next University Library Dean will begin in Fall 2024. I will announce an appointment for an interim dean soon.
Sincerely,
S. Terri Gomez, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
