Dr. Sandeep Krishnamurthy is the inaugural Singelyn Family Dean of the College of Business Administration and the Singelyn Graduate School of Business at Cal Poly Pomona. The CBA is one of the largest business schools in America- serving more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The college is accredited by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), achieved only by 6% of business schools worldwide. The college includes the Singelyn Graduate School of Business which offers an MBA and Master of Science (MS) programs in Accountancy, Business Analytics, Digital Supply Chain Management, Digital Marketing and Information Security.

Dr. Krishnamurthy is a technology visionary, forward-looking thought leader, catalytic transformative leader, an energizer and a builder of deep partnerships. He is considered an international thought leader in Artificial Intelligence and regularly contributes to podcasts and conferences. He passionately believes that business school education can change the world by bringing prosperity to first-generation and under-represented minority families. Mentors are important to Dr. Krishnamurthy, and he is always available to help make an impact on the lives of his trusted connections.

He was born and raised in India prior to immigrating to the Unites States. After his early schooling in Hyderabad, India (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Little Flower Junior College), he obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Bombay (Mumbai), India. He achieved his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM- equivalent to an MBA) from XLRI, Jamshedpur, India. He attained a Ph.D. in marketing and economics from the University of Arizona’s Eller School.

Prior to his role at Cal Poly Pomona, he spent more than two decades at the University of Washington (UW) where he served as the founding dean of UW Bothell School of Business. During his time there, Dr. Krishnamurthy was known as a student-centric catalytic innovator creating transformational partnerships (e.g., the PharmD-MBA program) and win-win collaborations (e.g., the Mini-MBA program with the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce).

Sandeep is an international leader in business accreditation. He co-founded the Digital Transformation Affinity Group at AACSB. He has mentored and led accreditation peer review teams for over twenty institutions worldwide. He regularly presents at AACSB conferences.  

Dr. Krishnamurthy is an interdisciplinary academic scholar. His academic research has been cited over 5,000 times with an h-index of 29 and an i-10 index of 41. His work has been featured in journals such as Harvard Business Review (HBR.org), Research Policy, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Business Research, Marketing Letters, Journal of Advertising Research and Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication. His initial research focused on game theoretic understanding of the interaction between cooperation and competition among corporations. His most recent work has been focused on the technology innovation ecosystem with an interest in areas such as artificial intelligence, creativity, open-source software and interactive marketing.

He is a thought leader who is frequently asked to provide his opinions- especially on the transformational impact of technology. He has written editorials, participated in podcasts and is interviewed by leading venues. He regularly interacts with business and civic leaders on the pressing issues of our time.

Dr. Krishnamurthy has consistently given back to society through civic participation. He was recently elected to join the Board of Directors at McKinley in San Dimas, CA. He has previously served on the board of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce in Bellevue, WA and the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell, WA.
