The Key to Business Success

The College of Business Administration and Singelyn Graduate School of Business Hosts a Key Unveiling and Member Induction Ceremony for Beta Gamma Sigma
The front of Building 164 on the Cal Poly Pomona campus just received an amazing upgrade, thanks to a collaboration with business honors society, Beta Gamma Sigma, which yielded a new key statue in the courtyard of the College of Business Administration (CBA) and Singelyn Graduate School of Business (SGSB). This latest addition to the campus signifies the schools’ ongoing commitment to academic excellence.
Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is a premier international honor society that recognizes the highest performing students (top 10% of the undergraduate students at the CBA) at the top 5% of the business schools in the world (as accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, AACSB International). BGS is a Business Honor Society — not a student club or a student fraternity, and it is invite-only, so it is a special honor for students who are invited and accepted. BGS is founded on a set of three principles; honor, wisdom, and earnestness, which serve as pillars for everything the society does.
The current Cal Poly Pomona Chapter features two student officers and three student ambassadors:
- Gabriela Gomez, ’25, Student Treasurer
- Nicholas Grovhoug, ’24, Student Ambassador
- Dylan Gregory, ’24, Student Ambassador
- Aliyyah Joseph, ’24, Student Ambassador
The new statue on campus represents the society’s symbol of a key, signifying the Beta Gamma Sigma ideals of honor, wisdom, and earnestness and it is inscribed with the Greek letters which represent the Society’s name. “We ask that all members who wear this key do so with our principles in mind,” explains Preeti Wadhwa, Faculty Advisor of the Cal Poly Pomona Chapter of BGS and Professor of Management & Leadership, and Program Coordinator MHR Department College of Business Administration, Cal Poly Pomona.
The unveiling of the statue was followed by an induction ceremony which featured an introduction from Wadhwa, as well as a tribute message from CBA and SGSB Dean Sandeep Krishnamurthy, before closing with an oath-taking facilitated by BGS student officers and ambassadors.
Congratulations to all of the new BGS members who have accepted this year’s invite. There is still time left for any student who has not yet accepted, but act quickly, as new invites are sent out every spring. The CBA and SGSB at Cal Poly Pomona are proud of our new key, which symbolizes our partnership with Beta Gamma Sigma, our continued path of learning by doing, and our unwavering commitment to fostering collaborative opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
